As I write this I’m sitting in a hotel in Rome after a long day of walking around and eating pasta. Yesterday (technically two days ago with all the time zone hopping and long flights) I was in Tokyo! It was so good to be back, it almost felt like no time had passed at all since we were there last. We spent our three days there exploring new parts of the city, revisiting our favourite ones and catching up on experiences we may have missed the first time!
Here’s a glimpse at what we got up to!
DAY 1 – Harajuku, Yoyogi Park, Tokyo Skytree
We packed a lot into our first day, including re-visiting one of my favourite areas of Tokyo (Harajuku) checking out Yoyogi park, where we saw performances, loads of cute dogs and a rockabilly club practising! We finished it off with a bird eye view of the city at sunset from the Skytree! (Last year we did the Tokyo tower which was also amazing!)
Kinji Vintage Heaven!
Wandering around Harajuku
DAY 2 – Shibuya shopping, Akhibara, Asakusa, Robot Cabaret
Asakusa – Senso-ji temple
Robot Caberet Shinjuku
This was a truly amazing show held in the most spectacular building! It’s definitely a big tourist attraction but the show is put on with such passion and enthusiasm and wildness that you can’t help but enjoy yourself!
DAY 3 – Ikkebukuro, Shimokitazawa, Flight to Rome
Our final day was pretty quiet. We visited some neighbourhoods in Tokyo that we hadn’t been to last time we were here. Ikkebukuro is definitely worth checking out, it has everything! Anime, art, shopping, beautiful building, famous Ramen, a gorgeous cat cafe and amazing atmosphere! Shimokitazawa was a small but extremely trendy shopping area teeming with Vintage and second hand stores! After a few hours perusing vintage stores, we then began our 24 hour journey to Rome!
Mocha Cat cafe! ^_^
So there you have it! A jam packed snap shot of a jam packed three days in Tokyo! It was so amazing being back and bittersweet leaving. Now we’re in Rome and its world away from Tokyo, they are such different cities but both so beautiful! We’re here for the next seven days and are so far loving it!
Until next time!
